About the procedure
Large or asymmetrical labia can be a significant problem for women. Labia minora correction (Labiaplasty) is an operative procedure which enables the correction of the size of labia or their asymmetry.
Labiaplasty is an operative procedure performed generally under local anaesthesia and does not require special preoperative preparation.
Labiaplasty is an operative procedure performed generally under local anaesthesia.
Depending on the size and characteristics of the tissue or asymmetry, tangential excision can be used to remove excess tissue parallel with the line of labia majora. In some cases, it is better to perform a wedge resection of the excess tissue. The tissue is sewn by stitches which are reabsorbed in the tissue and do not require removal.
Recovery after labiaplasty is relatively fast. Light swelling is expected immediately after the procedure, and a small amount of secretion is present for several more days. Sexual intercourse is possible after 3-6 weeks.
