About the procedure
A face lift surgery is one of the synonyms for aesthetic surgery.
After the surgeon’s examination, laboratory tests are required in order for the anaesthesiologist to gather information about the patient’s health status. If you are taking aspirin or similar products which reduce blood clotting, it is necessary to end such treatment at least two weeks prior to the operation, and if you are a smoker, it is advisable to quit smoking several weeks prior to the procedure. Our staff will give you all the other details regarding the preoperative procedure.
Face lifting is a completely painless procedure, and you will not experience any pain even after the surgery. The operation itself can be performed under general or local anaesthesia, depending on the specialist anaesthesiologist’s decision, as well as the patient’s wishes.
Prior to the procedure, preoperative imaging and careful planning is performed. We use the SMAS technique of FACE LIFTING which, along with removing excess skin, repositions the face musculature, providing a completely natural look and long-lasting results. The operative procedure lasts for around 2 and a half or 3 hours. The patient is awoken at the end of the procedure, without any pain or discomfort.
After the performed operative procedure, patients stay at the Polyclinic for a few hours to awake and recover completely, after which they can be accompanied home or to their accommodation. A special compressive bandage should be worn around the face and below the neck, to be taken off in 24 hours, at the time of the first bandage change.
Basic recovery lasts for around 10 – 12 days after which most patients return to their everyday activities.
